Second podium in a row for Silvia Persico who, four days after the success at Gran Premio Liberazione di Roma, confirms her excellent shape ending in third place the prologue of the Ceratizit Festival Elsy Jacobs.
The 24-year-old covered 2200 meters in 3 minutes and 13 seconds, at an average speed of 41,036 km/h. And now she can dream big for the next two stages.
«The course was suited for my characteristics: it was technical and with difficult turns», Silvia explains. «However, I did not expect to finish in third place: on the eve, my legs seemed not so super».
The podium gives strenght to the team’s plans.
«We are here to take as much as we can: stages or general classification. I am going to go after the leader jersey but, after Rome, I’d like to win again; maybe the stage in Garnich is the best for me: last year I ended in fourth place».
Valcar – Travel & Service’s athletes proved their good shape with Chiara Consonni too: seventh place for her and the awareness of being able to race for the big goal in the second stage.
«I am satisfied with the result. It is not so common to compete in a 2200-meter prologue: in some ways, it reminded me the effort of the team pursuit on the track», Chiara confirms. «In the next two stages too we will try to be protagonists: they will be two hilly stages; tomorrow a small group could fight for the victory and I hope to be there».
Good chronometric results also for the other athletes of the team: Karolina Kumięga finished 21st, with Eleonora Gasparrini 25th, Olivia Baril 28th and Ilaria Sanguineti 50th.
