A not so good day for the elite of the team Valcar-PBM, working on 2 fronts at the same time. If in Switzerland there was satisfaction for the 2nd place of Chiara Zanettin and the 9th place of Dalia Muccioli at the Gp Croiveser, in Belgium at the Gent-Wevelgem (5th round of the UCI World Tour) it was bitter-sweet. The race didn’t start so good with Ilaria Sanguieti that felt sick during the race, also with Marta Cavalli that slipped and with Chiara Consonni that fournd herself late among the other cyclists.
On the walls the blue/fuchsia did a good job: Maria Giulia Confalonieri and Elisa Balsamo, after a complicate moment had the strenght and the ability to get back among the head group without any problems. But when there was 20 km left from the arrival comes the crucial episode of the race. A fan on the head group split the group in half. At the front 33 athletes and the victory went to Marta Bastianelli, the Valcar-PBM athletes arrived in the second group with 1’48’’ late. Now the focus is on the next belgium races.
At the Dwars door Vlaanderen (march 28th) there will be a “turnover” with the insertment on the team of Silvia Pollicini and Alessia Vigilia and then will be time for the Giro delle Fiandre (April 1st ) and the GP Dottignies (April 2nd).
