At the most relevant kermess dedicated to the sprinters, Elisa Balsamo legitimize herself one of the fastest “wheel” on the planet, hitting the 3rd place at the Prudential Ride streamed by BBC and Eurosport.
“I’m speechless, I’m so happy” comments a radiant Elisa Balsamo as she hit the finish line at Buckingham Palace in London. “Stepping on this podium right behind Kirsten Wild and Marianne Vos is just an honor. We did demonstrate to be one of the strongest team and once again I have to thank my mates for believing in me.
For Elisa Balsamo this is the second consecutive podium in the last 2 races but this one is certainly the most important one in her carieer: for the first time Elisa (and the Valcar-PBM) conquered a World Tour podium.
“The route was extremely incisive and everyone wanted to stay at the front.” comments Elisa during her analysis of the race, that will continue on her personal blog www.elisabalsamo.com “manteining the first places has been tough. I have to especially thanks Ilaria Sanguineti that at the last km brought me upfront. While unfortunately, my team mate Silvia Persico suffered a flat tyre. In the finale I managed to reach Vos and I’m really satisfied about this podium”. .
Now for Elisa Balsamo there’s another important goal. Together with the team mate Maria Giulia Confalonieri and Marta Cavalli, Elisa will participate with the national shirt at the European Championship in Glasgow (Scotland).
