The Grandstands filled at the TT-Assen circuit, the public did not missed the appointment with the Dutch race, the circuit, titled the Motorcycling Cathedral, is really one of the most Sophisticated traced in the world.Roman, after some difficulties on Friday, surprised everyone in the race, able to excite with an incredible comeback from the fifteenth to the seventh position, and with a last lap of fear, has, in the last, overtaked Laverty on the checkered flag, crowning a wonderful result.Merit also of the team that has had the courage to upset the bike for the race, centering the move so much to give to Roman the feeling that he needed. The new sportive rules, “reversal of the grid” projected Roman in the second row, at 4th place, ahead of Melandri, Sykes and Rea who started in 3rd row.
He was able to take advantage of this opportunity, going in 6th position for the first lap, but then having to give up due to the front tire, he risked a compound more hard than the first manche but did not have a good feeling and he was satisfied with a good 11th place. Gino Rea, in the Supersport race, suffered a lot the tank fuel full and the grip of the new rubber, in the first laps was not able to be fast, but by mid-race he improved his pace more than one second, was fast as the Second group, the result is not as the expectation but this was the first race that he concluded after his 2016 incident, and the sgnals indicate that great results can be achieved.
Kazuki Watanabe came out without physical consequences from a scary crash in turn 15, falled over 220 km / h in an attempt to overcome the group of riders who preceded him. His improvements during the practice were evident and here in Assen he has tried a new engine that has further improved his feelings with the zx6r, so he is very confident about the Imola race.
Roman Ramos 40 (WSBK race 1; 7th): “Today it was wonderfull for us to get this seventh position and the chance to start tomorrow 4° on the grid is even more beautiful and important … … what can I want more? We know that will be difficult to stay in the head positions and we do not have the pace to do it, but I will try to stay close to them as much as possible and give my maximum in every corner! Returning to the race, the team made a magic between the warm up and the race and the bike was perfect. Thank you so much for all the people who wrote me and supported me at all times.”
Roman Ramos 40 (WSBK race 2; 11th):“Is exciting to start from the second row. I managed to turn well at the first curve, keeping the 6th position for almost all the first lap, but Rea, Chaz and Sykes had an incredible pace and I had to give up and trying to set my pace. In the warm up we tried a different front tyre and convinced me to use it in the race, but after only 4 laps I lost the feeling and could not force the entrance to the curve, so we could do even better, but I’m anyway happy about the positive week end. I can not miss the thanks to my team, as always fantastic and able to surprise me with their work.”
Gino Rea 4 (WSS race; 17th):“The week end is started very well, friday I was fast and I could easily stay in the first six places, so I was positive for the race. In superpole, however, I am not yet strong, the new tyre creates problems with the setup and I have not been able to improve. Same problem that accompanied me in the first half of the race, this combined with the tank full made me very slow in the first laps, from mid-race I started to be fast almost as the first but could not do anything anymore. This was been the first race that I managed to finish from the 2016 incident and was important for us to see the checkered flag. We can be strong and soon we’ll be back, I’m sure.”
Kazuki Watanabe (WSS race : rt): “At the beginning of the weekend I had a good feeling with the bike, the new engine helped me, for me was the first time in Assen and I liked this track, I enjoyed riding, but after the FP2 while I was trying to improve my laptime I fell and I could not make good qualifications. The feeling with the bike is always improved up, until the race, but as I tried to overtake Khairuddin to the curve 15th he made a small mistake and for not center him I fell. At Imola I will try to repay the team for the work that they have done up to now.”
Denis Sacchetti (Team Manager):”Today I am very happy, we have seen how a small peripheral artisan can put the multinationals in trouble, and the merit is of our rider, Roman is been super! The workgroup works very well and we have a fast rider, I hope someone will notice us and help us to improve our technical package to keep us constantly on the top.In Supersport we live a difficult time, we will work to turn pages from Imola.”
